Amy Kessel

my journey home

Transformative change has always been my calling. Initially drawn to social justice, I dedicated fifteen years to bringing equity to disadvantaged people in a variety of ways. I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in a rural African village, and later earned a Masters degree in applied Economics and Social Change and Development. I joined several organizations helping communities effect lasting change both abroad and in the U.S. I developed strong skills in communication, analysis, project management and program administration.

Some of my experiences were joyous, and some were disheartening. My years spent in this career helped me to clarify my role as catalyst for change, which remains to this day. Yet throughout, I had the nagging sense that something was missing.

A shift in focus was needed, and I found that coaching provided exactly that. In my social justice work I was relating to issues, not to people. What a disservice to myself! I was not available to people wishing to change from the inside out, nor was I allowing my passion for people, deep connection and self-discovery to enter my work world.

I am blessed and grateful to have found my way to Transformative Life Coaching. I now combine my professional skills with my gifts for listening, articulating and offering my intuition to others in an intimate and personal way. And I remain steadfastly committed to the notion that transformation is available to each one of us, regardless of where we may find ourselves today.
